Why we work with AJAX — and how we judge an alarm system
We are not tied to any manufacturer. These are the six questions we put to every system before we recommend it. For the kind of premises we deal with, AJAX answers them most convincingly.
1. Will I know whether the alarm is real?
An alarm without verification costs a call-out every time — at night, at the weekend, often for nothing. AJAX detectors with photo verification send a burst of images when they trigger. You see in the app whether someone is standing there or a spider walked across the lens.
For you: fewer wasted call-outs, a faster decision, and usable evidence when something really happens.
2. Does the radio link survive an attack?
Wireless is considered a weak point — rightly so, if it is not supervised. Superior devices check the connection continuously, detect jamming attempts and hop between 17 frequencies across four European bands. A jamming attempt is reported, not silently absorbed.
For you: this is why a wireless system can reach Grade 3 at all — and why you do not have to open up walls in an existing building.
3. Will the system meet a standards requirement when one is imposed?
Many systems are good enough until an insurer or a client asks for evidence. At that point you are replacing the system. With the Superior line, AJAX offers certification to EN 50131 Grade 3 within the same ecosystem and the same way of working.
For you: you can start small and upgrade instead of replacing everything later.
4. Does it grow with us — or do we end up with four islands?
Intrusion, video, EN54 fire detection, water leaks, access and automation all come together in one platform and one app. Wired Fibra devices and wireless devices can be mixed in the same installation.
For you: one system, one way of operating it, one point of contact — instead of four maintenance contracts with four companies.
5. Who is in control of the system?
Some systems can only be changed by the installer. With AJAX we agree what you may do yourself: add users, change schedules, arm and disarm areas. Everything beyond that stays with us, documented and traceable.
For you: no dependency for every small change — but nobody switching off the protection by accident either.
6. Is it part of your IT, or bolted on beside it?
Detectors, cameras and hubs sit on the network today. That makes them a security matter like any server: their own segment, maintained access, firmware kept in view. This is exactly where a pure installer stops and a pure IT firm never starts.

When Grade 3 is required
Some premises cannot be fitted with a standard system. Insurers, clients or licensing conditions call for a specific grade under DIN EN 50131 — and that decides the entire choice of equipment.
What the four grades mean
The standard assumes a different offender profile for each grade. From that follow the requirements for detectors, control panel, signalling and power supply.
- Grade 1 — low risk, offender without specialist knowledge
- Grade 2 — low to medium risk, limited knowledge and simple tools
- Grade 3 — medium to high risk, specialist knowledge and a full set of tools, including electronic ones
- Grade 4 — high risk, planned approach with substantial resources
What Grade 3 demands technically
- Tamper detection: masking, blocking or removing a detector triggers an alarm
- Anti-masking inside motion detectors, not merely a case contact
- Supervised signalling paths that report their own failure
- Standby power that carries operation reliably through a mains outage
- Detection of jamming and manipulation of the radio link
Which premises this applies to
Grade 3 comes into play where stock value, controlled substances or legal conditions create elevated risk: businesses holding high-value stock, pharmacies with controlled drugs, jewellers, firearms storage, premises with a critical supply function. More often than not the requirement sits in the insurance contract rather than in legislation.
EN grade and VdS class are not the same thing
In Germany many insurers work with VdS classes rather than EN grades. Grade 3 is frequently related to VdS class B, and where risk is higher insurers ask for class C. That mapping is a guide — it does not serve as evidence to an insurer or an authority.
Honestly: equipment alone is not enough
A system only counts as VdS-compliant when the components are certified and a VdS-approved installer has carried out the work. Anyone selling you certified devices and deriving proof of insurance cover from that is cutting a corner.
So we start by establishing what is actually required in your case — an EN grade, a VdS class, or a phrase from an insurance contract — and then say what we cover and where an approved installer has to join in.

Protection against jamming
Wireless systems are often considered vulnerable. Superior devices hop between 17 frequencies across four European bands when interference appears, and report the attempt rather than concealing it.
That is the reason a wireless system can reach Grade 3 in the first place.
Detectors with anti-masking
Motion detectors in the Superior line recognise attempts to tape them over, spray them or block them — and trigger before the break-in itself begins.
Alongside them: opening and glass-break detectors, photo verification, indoor and outdoor sirens, and panic buttons.
Wireless, wired or both
Jeweller is the wireless link, Fibra the wired one. Both exist in the Superior line and both can be combined in a single installation.
In an existing building with no cable routes, that is often the difference between feasible and not feasible.
Larger premises
For installations beyond a single building there are hybrid control panels — MegaHub manages up to 999 Fibra and Jeweller devices in one installation.
Several sites come together in the same interface instead of each becoming its own island.
Available through partners only
AJAX supplies the Superior line exclusively through accredited partners — it is not sold through open retail. Planning, supply and commissioning therefore run through the installer.

Fire detection for commercial premises
The AJAX EN54 line brings addressable smoke, heat and combined detectors, manual call points and sounders together on a wireless platform. BR-Systems is currently working towards the partner qualification this requires — planning and delivery of projects to the standard will follow once that qualification is complete and the work has been technically reviewed.

Briefly answered
How do I know whether my premises need Grade 3?+
In most cases the requirement sits in an insurance contract or a licensing condition rather than in legislation. We read the wording with you, because it may name a VdS class, an EN grade, or only a general description. Only then is it clear which equipment is even eligible.
Can a wireless system really meet Grade 3?+
Yes. With the Superior line, AJAX brought the first fully wireless system with Grade 3 certification to market. Three things make that possible: supervised radio links, jamming detection with frequency hopping, and detectors with anti-masking. Whether wireless, wired or a mix is right for you still depends on the premises.
Does certified equipment replace proof to my insurer?+
No, and this is where many offers become unsound. A VdS-compliant system needs certified components and installation by a VdS-approved company. We tell you openly what we cover and where an approved installer has to be brought in.
Can an existing AJAX system be extended with Superior devices?+
Partly. Individual Superior devices can be added to an existing installation, but the Grade 3 property belongs to the installation as a whole — control panel, detectors, signalling and design. A system does not become Grade 3 because one detector is.
Do you look after the system after installation?+
Yes. Alarm equipment sits on the network today, which puts it in the same care as the rest of your IT: its own segment, maintained access, firmware kept in view. Maintenance and visual inspection are agreed per site.
